What is Shooting Stars?
Shooting STARS is a free respite program where children with special needs (STAR kids) make new friends, play fun games, enjoy crafts, and more! Siblings are welcome and will have fun, too! Each Star Kid is paired up with a screened volunteer to participate in that days activities.
Meanwhile, their caregivers get a break from their ongoing care-giving responsibilities.
Shooting STARS is open to church members and non-church members with STAR kids.
Who are Star Kids?
STARs are kids with special needs, which include any physical, cognitive, medical or hidden disability, chronic or life-threatening illness, or those who are medically fragile.

How do I sign up as a Star Kid?
FBC Leesburg provides Shooting Stars for Star Kids ages 3-16 years old, and their siblings 4-11 years old.
Complete the secure online STARS Family Information Form below. If you have any siblings that you’d like to have attend Shooting STARS, add their information to the form as well. Then contact Baileigh Duke or the church office to reserve your spot.

How do I volunteer?
No previous experience with children with disabilities is necessary to volunteer, just a loving heart, open arms, and a willingness to learn. You must be at least 14 years of age and you will be trained through a self-guided online course. You will also need to agree to have a background check run on your information (18+yrs old).
To sign up for the program as a STARS Volunteer:
1) Complete the secure online STAR Volunteer Form.
2) Contact us to let us know you are interested and would like to complete the training and background check.
You do not need to volunteer every time we have a STARS Event. We will take your help when/if you are available!
